Description

Independently released in April 2006, ‘The Road To Tamworth’ is a four track EP. The title track was written as a dedication to a friend. This new recording features some colourful slide guitar and resonator.

The EP also includes the much requested ‘Ed’. Cricket stories that involve talented canines are sure to be a favourite.

Both ‘Tamworth’ and ‘Ed’ have received airplay on several radio stations across Australia including FBi in Sydney and ABC Radio National.

CD review by Greg Barnett

Anyone who enjoys simple finger-picked dobro guitar, a pleasant tenor male voice, and country-inflected first-person stories will greatly enjoy this.

The first track carries the EP’s title, and embellishments include tasteful pedal steel in the background, and Dylan-esque harmonica in the breaks.

As these are songs with such a personal vibe, slightly less reverb on the vocals would bring them closer in to the listener for a more intimate experience, but this is personal preference.

“Ed” is a quirkily attractive song about people playing country cricket!

With a vocal delivery like Paul Kelly in the upper registers, this EP makes me imagine sitting back in an acoustic folk club and listening to Chris entertain an enthusiastic and appreciative crowd.
