Sea Shanty Festival has plenty to offer

Ahoy there, the Bunbury Sea Shanty Festival is back for 2025 with more bands and an extra venue to boot.
This year the festival sees over thirty sea shanty and folk bands sail down to the port town of Bunbury, Western Australia.
Groups attending this year are coming mostly from the sea shanty mecca of Western Australia, but we also have two groups from the Eastern States, The Salty Sirens from Brisbane, Queensland and The Stranded Wailers from Hobart, Tasmania.
The three day festival, running from July 4 to 6, will be packed with workshops such as “How to start your own sea shanty group”, “How to write a sea shanty” and “How to sing a sea shanty”.
The popular “Write your own sea shanty competition” will be held again with contestants writing and performing their own original work in front of a supportive crowd.
There’s heaps of free family fun events such as the Mad Tatters Morris dancing, International Dance, the Pesky Pirates high flying show, a Virtual Reality Pirate Game, Face Painting and Songs of the Swan River Colony.
Other highlight events will be the “Who dunnit?!” Murder Mystery Pirate dinner, a water cannon display by Svitzer tugs, Bunbury Sea Rescue Boat tours, a raunchy adults only bawdy sea shanties session, the “Big Sing” finale and a live telecast of the opening ceremony with the Royal Australian Navy.
So come along to the Bunbury Sea Shanty Festival 4-6th July.
