There’s much more to a ukulele festival than you think

“If I asked you to pick up a ukulele, it would make you smile”, says Liz Kitney, founder of the Central Coast Ukulele Club/Festival.

The Central Coast Ukulele Club has been hosting ukulele festivals on the Coast since 2012.

It’s always been a popular community event and has attracted music lovers and families from around Australia and overseas since then.

In a world that often feels chaotic and hurried, there’s something undeniably soothing about the gentle plucking of ukulele strings.

Imagine a festival where this calming sound fills the air, accompanied by laughter, music, and a sense of community.

You need look no further than The Central Coast Ukulele Festival held at The Diggers at Entrance, and Gosford, NSW.

The dates are from Thursday September 19 to Sunday September 22.

The Central Coast Ukulele Festival promises to be a celebration like no other.

This festival is inclusive of all genres of music, all cultural backgrounds, it transcends all ages, and musical expertise.

Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned player, this festival welcomes all.

Music has the ability to bring people together and this festival will inspire you to pick up a ukulele and smile, or you can sit back and enjoy over 40 acts and a diverse array of music styles.

Why the ukulele?

It’s compact, affordable and seriously fun.

The Central Coast Ukulele Festival satisfies all tastes of music and with the likes of headlining acts, The Nukes from New Zealand, with their original, quirky, brilliant funny songs, to the amazing Connor Wink, a blind ukulele player with a heavenly voice, to the rock legends, Terry Murray and Gillian Eastoe, plus rhymers and poets’ breakfast.

There is something for everyone.

It’s a chance to witness performances by talented musicians, join in the jams, singalongs, or hone your skills and enjoy a feast for your senses at the many workshops available over the weekend.

A song writing competition is available Sunday afternoon for those inspiring budding writers and composers.

Don’t miss your chance to be part of something special and make unforgettable memories after the final chord has been played.

The festival kicks off on Thursday night, September 19, at the Fun Haus Gosford with the fabulous Nicky Bomba from Melbourne’s Ska Orchestra.

Friday night, September 20, is our dinner show, featuring The Nukes and Paul Jonson,  all from New Zealand, Terry Murray and Gillian Eastoe, Connor Wink and Shawn O’Friel, Cameron Murray and Mirrabooka.

The Central Coast festival has always been a popular community event featuring a variety of live music all weekend.

Workshops include, Bass, Singing, Artistry, Drums, Ukulele, all levels Harmonica, a song writing competition plus merchandise tables and raffles.

There’s a Poet’s Breakfast, community collectives, jams, singalong, open mic and much more!
