Dashville Skyline announces bumper line up for 10th anniversary by Jo Corbett TN164 July 24 It’s going to be one helluva show when Australia’s very own Cosmic Country Weekender, Dashville Skyline, celebrates its 10th anniversary this NSW October Long Weekend. The festival has just announced 16 more acts who will be joining the already stellar class of 2024. Included is an exciting collaboration with MusicNSW, where two regional NSW acts will join the festival line up as the final stop on the MusicNSW-supported ‘Golden Highway’ regional tour. Please welcome as part of the second announcement: soul country powerhouse Emma Donovan; the eclectic, esoteric, Ella Hooper from Killing Heidi fame; a big hell yeh for Tamworth alt-country party boy Andy Golledge; well swung two-steppin’ country outfit James Ellis & The Jealous Guys; raucous Austin based Buck Owens tribute band Buck N Stuff (US); loveable Aussie larrikin Watty Thompson; rising indie folk singer Camille Trail, the incredible Americana vibes of Jeb Cardwell & The Dream Deal; local bluegrass legends Good Corn Liquor; western swing pros Hunter Valley Ramblers; sexy angsty folk prowess of Kingsley James; and, the deep-end flow of local Andy Abra & The Big River Band. Oh! and how could we forget the incredibly fun and virtuosic talents of the biggest band to ever hit the stage at Dashville, the Dashville Progress Society. These acts will join one of Australia’s greatest, Ross Wilson with his killer band The Peaceniks playing mega hits from the Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock vault. Already announced are Legendary US act Hurray For The Riff Raff, country rock legends Kingswood, legendary front man from Goanna Shane Howard, local folk ruffian William Crighton, popular up-beat blues trio 19-Twenty, Melbourne spaghetti-western super group The Counterfeit featuring Freya Josephine Hollick, who will also be performing her own set, as is exceptional folk troubadour, Emily Barker. Other international acts include the psychedelic country excellence of Portland’s Rose City Band, Texan legends from Yellowstone fame Uncle Lucius, and UK based folk protest singer, Grace Petrie. The small music loving team at Dashville are no slouches, eloquently and independently showcasing some of the best in Australian alternative folk and country music over the past decade. Always doing things in their own special way, offering up a magical space to enjoy well-considered festival programs, full to the brim with heart and soul performances from across the country and the world, and this year is no exception! Held over the October Long weekend, from Friday October 4 to Sunday October 6, on the hallowed ‘island in the stream’, Dashville, in Wonnarua Country, Hunter Valley, NSW, the festival offers a weekend musical camping experience akin to no other. Dashville Skyline is a well-orchestrated musical feast which casually meanders its way across a vast open country landscape, with a sky above full of stars and songs and every step below another rabbit hole. This family friendly camping festival is a favourite for those who like their music a bit more laid back, perhaps a bit of cool oozed over their country, or feel in their folk. The popular festival is chock a block full of amazing live shows from hand-picked artists from around Australia and the world, with a myriad of artistic collaborations, family activities and laid back old school country inspired fun. It’s a favourite for music purists out there and for anyone looking to discover their next favourite band and a favourite for young families looking to get back into an easy camping festival adventure. Dashville Skyline is a celebration of alternative country music and the surrounding roots culture in its varied forms. The festival gives music lovers the option to purchase single day tickets, or full event three-day passes. The ultra-chilled countrified camping festival will host over 40 live performances across three stages. Savor mouth watering American inspired food and bevvies, trawl the boutique vintage market stalls, visit the music history exhibit, join the animal petting zoo, partake in a guitar-and-car show and shine. These are just a few of the things this great family orientated, long weekend festival offers. Held at the same location as The Gum Ball, Dashville Skyline is a popular alternative to its predecessor, providing an amazing experience for alt-country music lovers and those who like to partake in an ultimate weekend escape, full of laid-back music and family fun. The festival’s name derives from that of Bob Dylan’s 1968 release, Nashville Skyline, which lends an impression of the vibe of this festival. It’s a celebration of alternative country, its birth in America during the ‘60s-‘70s, the culture that surrounds the music and the evolution that continues to inspire modern-day songwriters. One of the main spectacles of the festival is the immensely popular Sunset Super Round. On Saturday at nightfall, artists on the bill merge around the main stage in spontaneous collaboration, to pay homage to their favourite songs of the “golden era”.
