CD REVIEW – By Eva Roberts
CIRCULAR BREATHING
From the opening bars of Kate Miller-Heidke’s “Circular Breathing” EP, the young singer songwriter’s vocals are endearing.
Wispy and innocent, there is a frank honesty about Kate’s songwriting and her whimsical look at life takes listeners on a journey.
Her background as a cabaret and opera singer is evident as the Brisbane-based performer lends her vocals to a more folk and original driven style.
The opening track “In and Out” has a piano focus and a lovely chorus about “Spinning Around a Lamp Post in the rain” and features the lyrics “Circular Breathing” which inspired the title of the EP.
Tracks such as “Jamie” and “Caveman Days” are those magical kind of tunes which impact the soul and stay with you forever.
It’s story is something which will appeal to almost everyone and it is hard not to see yourself in the same situation and consequently feel an automatic attachment to the song.
Kate Miller-Heidke’s voice is undoubtedly that of an angel and her “Circular Breathing” EP takes you away from your troubles and into a different world.
