John Ralph – The K.I.S.S. Principle CD review by John Williams
John certainly follows the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Stupid) principle on this CD. He sings and plays guitar, mandola, banjo and harmonica. He showcases his musical ability. John is supported by Jade Ralph on one track and Toni Italiano on another but apart from that it is a one man show. He plays a mix of traditional and contemporary tracks on this CD. There are eighteen tracks on the CD so you get value for money. He has tried to create the sound you would hear in a live performance and has achieved his aim. I like the sound John creates and fi nd his singing easy to listen to. John has created a diverse listening experience and chosen songs from a number of artists whose work he obviously enjoys and he passes this enthusiasm on to his audience. They range from thoughtful tracks such as ‘The Minstrel’ and ‘Adieu Sweet Lovely Nancy’ to the comical songs ‘Sister Josephine’ and ‘The Andalucian Gypsy’. John includes two tunes he wrote ‘Deb’s Tune’ and ‘The Surprise’. This is a CD I have enjoyed listening to. It grows on you.
